Abuse reports & domain exclusion

Connections from the Email Verifier identify themselves in the SMTP HELO/EHLO greeting as lgpteam.com. Each session consists only of EHLO, MAIL FROM, a single RCPT TO and QUIT. The DATA command is never issued and no message is ever delivered. Full details are on the How it works page.

The service is limited to about 60 checks per minute in total, no more than 10 checks per recipient domain and no more than 40 per mailbox provider in any 10-minute period.

If our checks are causing load, triggering alerts, appear to exceed the limits above, or you believe the service is being misused, please email abuse@lgpteam.com. We will investigate, reply within one business day, and pause checks against your domain while we look into it if you ask us to.

You do not need to give a reason. Email abuse@lgpteam.com with the subject “Exclusion request” and list the domain(s) you want excluded. Once processed, the domains are added to the service's exclusion list and will no longer be checked. We will confirm by reply when the exclusion is in place.

To help us confirm the request is genuine, please send it from an address at the domain concerned, or from the contact listed for that domain, where possible. If that is not practical, tell us and we will agree another way to confirm it.

Including the following lets us find the relevant activity and respond quickly:

• Timestamps of the connections, with time zone (UTC preferred).
• The connecting IP address you observed.
• The recipient domain(s) and, if relevant, the receiving mail server hostname.
• The HELO/EHLO name presented by the connecting host.
• Relevant log excerpts or SMTP transcripts (please redact anything you consider sensitive).
• A short description of the problem and what outcome you would like (for example, exclusion or a lower rate).

• A human reply within 1 business day.
• Every exclusion request is honored, and excluded domains stay excluded unless you ask us to remove the exclusion.
• Misuse by any user leads to suspension of access.
• We never send email to the addresses we check.
